Thanks............I do have to boast for the guy once in awhile since he won't ever do it himself.......
LOL!

Thanks Mara. He really is proud to know that his family has somehow contributed to building some beautiful landmarks. Around the time the Drake Hotel was built, they were also supplying the limestone for the building of the old Cominsky Park in Chicago (pic). More recently their limestone has been purchased for the project of rebuilding the US Pentagon building after the 911 attack and also for fountain/memorial in the new Chicago Millenium Park. Their limestone was also used to complete the Washinton Cathedral in D.C. They no longer do the building themselves but are still in the quarrying and fabricating business. I've attached a few more pics if anyone is interested in what I'm talking about.

Off topic: Bonnie, I just had a look at the Drake Hotel... Imressive building, your hub must be so proud that his family contributed to build such a beauty.
I do declare dear Raven, that I already like your husband.............You are indeed a very lucky woman! :)

My hub is in his late 40's (four years older that me) and his opinion is that women in their 40's are in their prime, know what they want sexually and have the experience and wisdom to please a man so much more than a young woman could! (Isn't that lucky for me??! lol)
As long as your motivation is always love you'll be alright! Good luck on your 'quest' dear Eirian!

Wow, you gals teach me a lot from ur experience... thanks! :)
Well... after reading Randy's story and Bonnie's posts, I think I'll still stick to older men cuz I hope to have a steady relationship and am not afraid of others' viewpoints. That's what you call true love.

Warning! Warning! Warning! Here comes another long winded post...... ;)
Tonight my hub and I had a chance to go out to dinner alone and during dinner I brought up how we're having this particular discussion on the site and I asked him if he remembered the night he and I people watched at the Drake.
He said he did....but he said it was mostly for other reasons.......lol!
Anyhooo...............I asked him what he thought of the MUCH older man with the younger trophy wife scenario and asked him to give me a male point of view. So here goes.....
BTW......my hub just turned 50, is tall, slim, successful and still has a full head of hair......Trust me......he could do alot better than me at this point......lol!
Alright.......He said.....that any man, irregardless of age.......first looks to the visual and what man of any age wouldn't want to sleep with a 20 something looker.
BUT as far as marrying one, he can't see the attraction at all. He pointed out that older men have in all liklihood already raised a family and if he's left his family because he wants to be 'free' then........what is the point of marrying a woman who sooner or later is going to have a screaming biological clock? He also said he seriously doesn't see the mind-chemistry being there that is necessary for a healthy, happy relationship. He said that different generations look at things so differently and added that if there is no commonality in your experiences and outlooks, that he seriously wouldn't want the hassle of it all no matter how perky she looked or was in bed.
He ended by saying..........The majority of 50 something men have no interest in going bar-hopping and dancing with an energetic 20something. Adding that at this point in life........most men want a mate that soothes their soul . They don't want to have to constantly prove themselves.
Anyhooooooo..............all this from a man's mouth.
Again..............he said the physical bit would be extremely enitcing to him and to all men but that's about it.....Ya can't build a satisfying relationship on sex and sex only no matter how far apart in ages a man and woman are.
Hmmmm......Interesting take, eh?
Don'tchas wish some MEN on this board would jump in?

Thanks Oom! I never thought of myself as: well read, inquisitive, hard working, honest, loyal, humble, selfless and intelligent.
Now that I think about it, I GUESS I AM!!!!! But going back to the "trophy wife", I suppose I really can't blame them. Many times I've THOUGHT about being taken care of, never to worry about financial obligations and such.
The only thing that has stopped me from going down that hallway is a sense of self preservation. I can't imagine money buying love or loyalty. I would need love and loyalty in a relationship.
I'm okay with the younger woman/older man or older woman/younger man concept though I do tend to agree with Oom and that, there are some instances where Randy pointed out, that there is truly a connection there, THEN there are the other instances where the aforementioned combinations are totally for the wrong reasons such as wanting to be with a person BECAUSE of their age, or their nationality or their money. All superficial and will at some point fizzle out during the relationship.

See.............I think you guys are the exception to what I've personally seen in much older men/young women relationships.
The differences being that you guys are well read, inquisitive, hard working, honest, loyal, humble, selfless and intelligent women.... who no matter what your age...... can hold your own in any setting or conversation without constantly being concerned with the 'me' factor.
Therefore, I don't think the classification of 'trophy' would fit either of you as far as the usual connotation of the word goes.

how did i miss this thread? love the pics, and the topic. i agree with bon, but i also disagree. you can spot a trophy wife a mile away. i find them humorous, and they give me something to feel smug and self-righteous about. not pretty, but true. my husband is a stay at home dad, and he's hot, so does that make him a trophy husband? nah... as far as age differences, my hub is 5 years older, and that is smallest i would allow. i like men who are older. they are more masculine to me. i have a great father, so freud can shove it. i just like older men. in my dating life i liked 5 years and up. i am a serial monogomist, so there haven't been many. but, when i was in my early 20s i dated a man who was 49. it wasn't about sex (we only went out a couple of months, and never got that far), it was about a connection of the mind and soul. we each had different life experiences, etc. that kept conversations intense and long. we both read a lot and i can talk books for hours. liked the same music, movies, etc. BTW, he never bought me anything more expensive than a cup of coffee. we were both broke. we broke up because HE couldn't handle the public reaction. people would assume he was my father. then, my sugar daddy (what a joke). i went to his school reunion and all the women treated me horribly, and mocked him. his family wondered what i was after, because he didn't have anything materially. he caved to public opinion, and i lost respect for him. not a "keep in the closet" kinda gal. moral of the story.... age doesn't matter to me, the reasons for being together are what counts. laugh at the trophy wives, and respect the real deal. yes, i do know i am a complete hypocrite here.

As I'm in my 20's I tend to agree with you Bonnie. Working in Hollywood, I can tell you there are NUMEROUS women who are proud of being "trophy" wives and their only ambition IS, spending money and proud to be under the umbrella of a "cougar" man...
Ah... the day in the life of a Hollywood young and useless wife .
Hey.......Kinky is fine by me! A young girl with a 'worldly' man is probably in for a treat in the bedroom. Personally, I've always liked guys about five years older than me but nowadays.....I'm more apt to be considered a 'cougar' since in years, I am growing older by the day, but in my mindset, I'm still young at heart......LOL! And hey.........as long as a younger guy has an active brain that sparks my interest......why not, eh??? LOL!
This is a true story tho........about 10 years ago when the kids were still small, my hub and I had a chance to spend New Year's Eve downtown at the Drake hotel in Chicago. (The Drake hotel was actually constructed by my husband's grandfather and great grandfather in the early 1920's and it's considered a very CLASSIC GRAND hotel in the old world sense. They never owned it but were the limestone providers and fabricators).
Anyhooo..........so...it's New Year's Eve and the grand ballroom had some big shindig happening in it. My husband and I ordered a bottle of champagne and sat down in what is called The Palm Court to people watch. Honestly.......it was a blast. As couples came in and out of the Grand Ballroom, we sat there and discussed them......me.....oohing and aahing over the gowns and the jewels and the age appropriate handsome men in tuxedos. My hub eyeballing the numerous trophy wives whose only ambition in life is to devote her entire life to looking good and spending money. And they DO look good and look like they spend zillions to look that way.......
And that's WHERE I am uncomfortable with much older men with much younger women. The truth is there is a disappropiate amount of successful men............who for nothing but ego purposes...... drop their loyal wives, the mother of their children.......the woman who has helped him climb that ladder to success by putting her own life on hold......and then hook up with a trophy wife.
You can always tell that kind of couple and to me it smacks of a business agreement.
You know the kind of arrangement I'm talking about........the...... "You give me what I want......an obviously pampered women on my arm who spends three hours getting ready every day and who has no interest in nuturing or building a home or expanding her mind......and I'll give you what you want.....MONEY"
I absolutely loathe relationships like that. To me it is superficial to the core and it makes a mockery of what marriage is supposed to be about.
But Then again............these are ONLY my opinions.....others, of course, see things quite differently, I am sure! And the truth is, people's marriages rarely live up to their personal expectations.....so maybe an 'arrangement' works better than I think!
Anyhooo.............a somewhat older guy with a younger woman has always worked in society because woman tend to like to learn from experienced, successful men and men like to play the protector/daddy.
But in the majority of MUCH older men with young women......the truth is there really isn't much chance that they have things in common in which to build a solid foundation and to experience life together as equals in an equal relationship.
BTW..............I am NOT a traditional women's libber! LOL!

Gerfalcon, you and I feel alike about men then, coz.... I can begin taking a guy seriously only if he´s a minimum of 5 to 10 years older than me.
Older guys have had so many experiences to share, and I´m eager to learn (please don`t read that in a kinky sense, I mean it otherwise). I guess I need some guidance, LOL!
I think Monica suits him as well. I hate to say it but I really dislike it when they put much younger actresses as love interests to older actors. To me it screams "demographics"....as tho they are trying to appeal to viewers of all ages at the expense of the actual story. Of course, to be honest, I'm not crazy about older men and much younger women in real life either (sorry Nic). Primarily because I can't see the attraction of the 'minds/life experiences'. To me, the mind is a very sexy thing. The physical, all alone, never cut it for me.
Oh....and hey girls....I suggest you all start putting your resumes together. Me thinks that LSSD's are gonna be the next up and coming professions in the movie world.......... Thanks to all of you! :)

"No discussion -- no deals." - Face/Off Script. "You are what you love, not what loves you." - Adaptation. SAY IT LOUD - I'M A NICAHOLIC AND I'M PROUD XD!!!
Jen, that´s a cool idea for a profession... "love scenes stunt double"... Imagine that business card? "Mr. So-and-so, full-time LSSD"... Not to talk about the resumé... "LSSD for Monica Belluci"... LOL!
Me think Monica Belluci suit him................ for sure.
She is beautiful woman, and then, who can resist, right? Wonder to know how is ALice feling about this kind of scenes, because .............me being NIC´s wife suggest to use a NIC doubler for such scenes, to protect all that passion and love he shares, only for ME
