The following information was released by the United Nations:
The United Nations anti-crime arm will today name acclaimed American painter Ross Bleckner as Goodwill Ambassador to Combat Human Trafficking at the opening of an art exhibition displaying paintings by former child soldiers and abducted girls from Uganda.
Mr. Bleckner, the first artist to be honoured as a UN Goodwill Ambassador, has been appointed to spearhead the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) "Blue Heart" campaign against human trafficking.
Launched in March, the initiative aims to raise awareness about the millions of victims and rally support to combat this modern form of slavery.
This event took place yesterday: Nic attended and addressed some words to hudreds of attendees. Apparently he said something along those lines: I´m not here as an actor, but as someone concerned about the children, who have the right to be free, to not be tortured or kidnapped.
(I´m paraphrasing here because I found the news in the AP Spanish Worldstream, but for the moment no reports of the event in English came out)
Please find pics of Nic in the link below He looks graciously committed to me...
